Opera Skateboards was founded in 2023 by Bill Weiss, a longtime skate industry veteran and former head of Madness Skateboards. After Dwindle Distribution ended, Weiss partnered with Louie Barletta, Bod Boyle, and Steve Douglas to launch Sidewalk Distribution, building Opera as his own brand within it.

Bill Weiss has described opera as "a performance of one" - every skater is the star of their own line, whether skating alone or with friends. The brand's graphics lean into that theatrical, storytelling spirit rather than a purely aggressive or purely playful identity.

Slappy's ST1 truck line is sized to match deck width directly, in inches, rather than the standard axle-width naming other brands use. As a general rule, match your truck size as closely as possible to your deck width - for in-between sizes, the closest available size is the right call (an 8.7" deck, for example, is closer to an 8.5" truck than a 9.0"). Look for the Slappy Wides for our "Fatties", extra-decks.

Opera and Madness are separate brands, both masterminded by Bill Weiss. They currently share the same website and are sold as distinct brands on the wholesale side through Sidewalk Distribution - over time, expect to see the two brands' identities become more distinct from each other.

EX7 is the 7-ply maple deck build used across most of Opera's deck line - the standard shape and construction most graphics are printed on.

Opera ships to all areas in and around the United States via USPS or UPS.
