Skateboard Deck Size Chart Guide
Skateboard Deck Size Guide
Deck width is measured in inches at the widest point. There is no single right answer - shoe size, height and what you skate all matter - but this guide reflects how most skaters choose, and where each width sits in the Opera line.
| Width | Best for | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| 7.375" - 7.75" | Kids and smaller skaters, flip-trick-heavy street | Youth shoe sizes up to ~6 |
| 8.0" - 8.25" | All-round street: ledges, flip tricks, technical skating | Shoe sizes ~6.5-9.5 - the most common adult width |
| 8.375" - 8.6" | Street and park both; extra landing room without losing flick | Shoe sizes ~9-11 |
| 8.625" - 9.125" | Park, bowl and faster street; stability at speed | Shoe sizes ~10+ |
| 9.5" - 10" | Transition, pools and vert; big platform, locked-in feel | Bigger feet, or anyone who prioritizes stability |
| 11" - 12" | Cruising, carving and maximum-stability transition - genuinely wide boards few brands make | Ride them because you want to |
Quick rules of thumb:
- If you mostly flip the board, go narrower. If you mostly pump, carve or grind coping, go wider.
- Your back foot should cover the tail comfortably - toes on one edge, heel near the other.
- Match your trucks to the deck: axle width within about a quarter inch of deck width.
- Grip tape is sold separately and comes in widths up to 12" - see the grip collection.
Where to find each size at Opera: the full deck wall covers 7.375" through 9.125", the wide deck collection runs 9.5" to 12", and if you want a board that rides the same switch as regular, the symmetrical twin-tips are built for exactly that. Slide-happy skaters should look at Pop Slick bottoms.
Still unsure between two sizes? Take the wider one if you skate transition, the narrower one if you skate street.
